Blackberry Curve 8520 Gets Pre-Reviewd: 8900 OS Release

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Engadget pre-reviewed the soon-to-come-out Blackberry Curve 8520.  The highlights are that the trackball works well, but is overall not as nice as the Blackberry Curve 8900.  It has EDGE and is probably designed to be for prepaid minute use.

8900 OS sneak Release

An unofficial leak of an OS upgrade for the Blackberry Curve 8900  is stirring up the blogs in the cell phone world.  This is an unofficial upgrade for the Curve, BlackBerry OS 4.6.1.231, that is not supported but I guess some people are willing to risk problems to have the latest version.

gPhone gets closer: Google talks with Verizon

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

There is evidence that the gPhone or Google Phone is getting closer to being a reality.  This article from NY Times talks about the discussions between the two mega corporations.

The article talks about how agreements on the deal are potentially just 2 months away.  Does that mean release of an internet ready phone that has free web browsing supported by Google ads is only 2 months away??  If so, sign me up.

My daughter accidently racked up $40 in cell phone internet bills last month when playing with my husband’s new “bells and whistles” phone.  Granted, my husband was responsible for knowing what the costs were associated with his phone or to not let her play with it, but it is that kind of “sticker shock when you get the bill” that makes many people like me even afraid to think about using cell phone net service.  If I know it will be free then I won’t hesitate to use it.

I would love to use my cell phone to email people, to comparison shop and to find prices of stuff on Ebay when I am out garage sailing or thrift store hunting.  That is ..for free.  In my town we still have free wi-fi city wide so that would make the experience even sweeter.

Welcome to my Cheap Cell Phone Blog

I am starting this blog since I found out cell phones had a lot of news and my Cheap Cell Phone site did not have the room to add more pages easily.  I will discuss cell phone news, especially news about smart phones, Iphones and GPhones.
